Falasarna beach is located on the west coast of Chania in Crete. It is among the most beautiful beaches in Crete, and as many may argue a perfect alternative to Balos and Elafonisi with much easier access by road. The beach is wide with great sand and it will never get overcrowded, even during the peak touristic period. The waters are turquoise and there are plenty of colorful fish in the sea, so be sure to bring your swimming goggles. The view from the very top of the hill before descending to the beach is just breathtaking. Another great thing about Falasarna is the option to rent sun beds and the possibility to have a snack at the local facilities provided. It can get windy here due to the exposed location and many people use the beach for wind and kite surfing when the wind from the west are favorable. Two small tips: Don’t leave the area before visiting the ancient Phalasarna and don’t leave the beach until the sunset.
