Rethymno is Crete’s 3rd largest city and one of the most picturesque corners of the island. It is located between Chania and Heraklion and it is a very vibrant city due to the universities that it hosts. The cobbled alleys and the seafront of Rethymno get flooded day and night by young people who define the pulse of the city. The centre of Rethymno has gone through a major urban reconstruction and pedestrianisation which has significantly improved its character and gave Rethymno the charm that it truly deserves. Atmospheric cafes and restaurants are scattered in the alleys of its old city, an amalgamation of wood-balconied Venetian and Turkish houses, mosques and churches a living proof of the city’s rich history.
