Stavros front beach a.k.a. ‘Limanaki’ (little port), once served as the ‘stage’ for the making of the famous film of the 60s ‘Zorba the Greek’, today is a favorite destination both for locals and visitors. Stavros’ waters that remain perfectly calm almost throughout the summer and the golden thin sand of the beach are a magnet for families with young children. Endless carefree moments of playing in the sand, building castles and running around for the children while the parents soak up the sun and swim in the turquoise waters. The beautiful scenery is completed with the mountain on the background of the Limanaki beach. Stavros is located approximately 17km northeast of Chania in Crete, on the Akrotiri peninsula and is easily accessible by car or public bus service. Limanaki beach is organized with sunbeds and umbrellas while there are plenty of dining options around and if the children can’t get enough of playing on the beach, there is playground right opposite the beach!
